V Festival Australia proudly announces the return of the mighty V Festival in 2008 – now touring nationally and once again staunchly supported by our pals at Virgin Mobile.
Rewind to March 2007 when over 50,000 fans flipped their proverbial lids to spectacular performances from such once-in-a-lifetime, gold-ticket music luminaries as Pixies, Beck, Pet Shop Boys, Groove Armada, Gnarls Barkley, Phoenix, The Rapture, Jarvis Cocker, Soulwax et al in the serenity of Sydney’s Centennial Park and the stunning surrounds of the Avica Resort’s undulating green hills in the heart of the Gold Coast.
With the mind-bending quality of the line-up, the gorgeous parkland settings and state of the art production, V Festival in its first year staked out a valid claim as a welcome new entrant and innovator in all-day Australian music events.
Building on the success of 2007 V Festival will not only revisit Sydney and the Gold Coast but will leap and bound further across the country, launching new events in both Melbourne and Perth for 2008.
Since its inception 12 years ago in the UK, V Festival has prided itself on creating line-ups that combine an intangible, eclectic hand-picked mix of the absolute iconic with the new and the cutting-edge, and in true V style you’ll witness first time visitors popping their Antipodean musical cherries alongside star-spangled and seasoned tour veterans.
This year V Festival has pulled a remarkable swag of rabbits out of their musical hat.
Leading the charge as headline acts for 2008 are THE SMASHING PUMPKINS (who last graced Oz with their sizeable talents some ten years ago) and perennial UK pop chameleons DURAN DURAN, returning to Australia to showcase their sensational new album ‘Red Carpet Massacre’ (gold dusted with the Timbaland and Timberlake Midas touch).
Joining them on V Festival's two main stages, audiences will be wowed by QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, the freshly reformed THE JESUS AND MARY CHAIN in their original incarnation, UK sensation MIKA* (east coast only), French electronic-ists AIR* (playing Australia for the first time - east coast only), love-from-above disco indie party people CSS, and the newest Modular sensations PLUG-IN CITY. V Festival will kick off in every city with the national winner of Virgin Mobile’s Garage to V competition, at the conclusion of it’s national search for the best new talent.
Aussie dance heroes THE PRESETS will take to the stage once again programmed by Modular, the wunderkinds of cool, along with THE TOUGH ALLIANCE, and many more uber hip acts from around the globe... more to be announced later!
The addition of Melbourne and Perth sites means V Festival is now Australia’s newest, most sophisticated national touring festival.
A joint venture between The Virgin Group, custodians of the legendary brand built from music roots, and Michael Coppel, one of Australia’s most prominent live music event producers, V Festival prides itself on delivering the ultimate line-up of each calendar year, in a truly blissfully chilled environment, an event that’s sure to continue to appeal to a wide but truly discerning, 18+ audience.
‘Mad for music’ Virgin Mobile continue their support for the V Festivals worldwide, as well as their commitment to all things good in life! Who could forget the heavenly helpful, Bluetooth-enabled Virgin Angels? Not to mention rescuing thousands from the horror of a flat mobile phone battery thanks to their recharge towers that re-invigorate any type of phone, no matter the brand.
V Festival truly liberated Australian festival goers, with Virgin Mobile’s recharge towers being a one stop fun shop for directions, maps, playing times, rain ponchos and even inflatable armchairs. The V Festival Buddy also returns, slinging up to date Festival info and playing times straight to your mobile phone, whoever, wherever you are.
And before you ask - don’t panic! – the fourth stage of the V Festival, The Virgin Mobile Venue, also returns bigger and better, delivering the hottest DJs from New York, Paris and anywhere else in the world where the party reigns supreme. We don’t want to spoil the fun on this one, you’ll have to sit tight until next year to find out just how sizzling hot that line-up is.
V Festival 2008 will be easy as pie to buy tickets for, with online buyers choosing between printing out tickets at home (ahem, recycled paper please!), getting the real deal in the mail, or even getting it SMS-ed direct to any Virgin Mobile phone!
Folk digging the traditional face-to-face approach will also be able to buy tickets at all Ticketmaster & Virgin Mobile outlets, as well as Virgin Megastores, Sanity and HMV. Take note that every single ticket is carbon neutral – with a big sloppy kiss to Ticketmaster, who have carbon offset the energy burned in getting everyone's tickets into their hot hands!
The jet setting folk at Virgin Blue once again join the V Festival fray not only as the official airline, but also as the official travel and accommodation package people thanks to Blue Holidays. Check vfestival.com.au for details of how you can make sure you can get to us if we can't get to you!
In 2007, V Festival raised more than $54,000 for charitable causes around Australia, and in 2008 we plan to allow you to luxuriate in the warm fuzzy feeling of doing good by default by once again donating $1 from every ticket sold. The kind souls at Virgin Unite (the charitable arm of the Virgin Group) will manage the distribution of your generosity, and if you’d like to see how they shared your collective love last year, check out the details at vfestival.com.au.
Be sure to also check out the ongoing coverage of all things V Festival on (I want my) MTV and sister station
VH1, and thanks to Yahoo7 Music, you can chew up the work bandwidth by streaming our very own V Festival

Kingy is known for being a practical joker. The guy really loves seeing someone else in pain when something isn't going their way. That's why, when we receive a shot of him looking like a complete mental. We run it. Dallas hooks into a tasty import, whilst Kingy stomps out some messed up shit in the background of a Cook Island bar.

In between drug trials and penning articles for Movement, Dav Fox does what we all do. Hunt women and waves. Here is the man in the Cooks, hoeing a random Euro in a sweat pit of love and feeling the floor in man/woman sandwich. Ladies, take a number, this man is in demand.

'im so hungover, didnt even spell anus right' was the email copy that came with this image of Harry Dixon on his OS mission. Kid is taking a break from the gnarly Hollywood party scene, checking the European sights in between sessions along the coast. Check his homeboy Grant Streater still in the Hollywood party scene on: http://thecobrasnake.com/partyphotos.html
Here is Streater lost in LA, he's in the middle image, next to the image with the horrible plastic surgery bitch.

Ed is a quiet man from the Goldie who shapes some sweet shapes for crew in Australia and the meticulous folk in Japan. Recently divorced, he has found a new life in the bright lights of Surfers Paradise, where he flaunts his shaper cred to snag the hottest of hot. Seen here with beauties whilst judging a bikini contest on the strip. After checking this shot out, we'd like to formally invite the behemoth brunette to join the Movement mixed basketball team. It's still in its formation stages but as soon as we're in contact with woman in question, things will move rapidly, maybe a little too rapidly.
Below: Ed in calmer waters, threading a G-Land winder.

Our web-designer slash, ideas guys, slash resident coffee addict Nick, also moonlights as a rockstar in Sydney band Burn The Drama (www.myspace.com/burnthedrama). You may recall Nick from previous postings where he ran the ski goggles to enhance his visual perception on a late night deadline bender. Anyway, the band is getting some attention lately with Triple J Unearthed notoriety and now the Nokia comp above, where Nick can be seen cranking his axe on lead guitar, decked in the silk rock-vest. Support the kid and Vote 1 Burn The Drama.

A breakout hit on the Xbox 360™, Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis brings to the Wii™ all the breakneck paced, intense volleying action of the acclaimed original - now with the tactile, super-intuitive controls that the Wii Remote™ affords.
Critics are already praising the game:

"Rockstar Games presents Table Tennis is the real deal, tons of fun to play, and wonderfully simplistic...the motion controls and already-impressive spin/stroke mechanic make for some surprisingly deep vs. competition." - IGN.COM
