The most spectacular Bodyboard in San Sebastian
The third edition of the Gaztekutxa Donosti Bodyboard Air Show will join
the best European specialists next 20th and 21st October in San
Sebastian’s La Zurriola beach to dispute the most spectacular
competition of the year in the peninsula.
The main thing of this competition is its format. By this way, it’s not the ride of
the waves which is punctuated but the best manoeuvre, to make sure the
bodyboarders will take big risks to offer the best entertainment for the fans of
this sport.
Further more, all competitors will surf in two rounds and be punctuated to
consider their 2 best manoeuvres instead of traditional competitions where the
two best waves of the heat summarized.
The participation of this year is a novelty because while in the first 2 editions,
the competitors came from all around the old continent, this year 2 of the best
world bodyboarders, Brad Hughes and Sean Virtue, will also be there.
Another big change is the prize money. Last year the prize money was 2000
euros while this year it has increased up to 5000 euros including a boat trip in
the Mentawai (Indonesia) and a flight ticket to Canary Islands.
To promote Bodyboarding in the youngest people, the organisation has decided
to create other parallel activities such as the Short Film Festival that will take
place on Friday 19th October in cultural centre Ernest Lluch.

Back in the ol' days there was a guy on the scene called Corey Oliver, now this guy (still to this day from all reports) is one of the biggest mincers known to man. No woman is safe, he had some crazy jousting stats that were up in to the triple digits. These days he shapes his own boogers and is a lifeguard 'round the eastern suburbs. Now Corey Oliver has nothing to do with Corey Mclean, this was purely a way of mentioning stats in the triple digits. But seriously what are you up to? Low-teens perhaps, maybe you're one of the younger blog-crap-readers and haven't even got a stroke yet. Well just take a minute to consider how many bad lines and approaches that man attempted to get stats like that. You know there would have been a few dragons on the way too. Who are we kidding.
Anyway Corey MCLEAN is a powerhouse rider from the Goldie, check his steez above and work on those stats kids.

John Gorton a friendly bloke from Port Macquarie placed 2nd at last weeks Australasian Titles in the Grandmasters division (note trophy secure under his arm). It was a pretty damn good effort considering the man had a brain tumour.....
Days later he was back at Royal North Shore having brain surgery again to get more tumor removed. John has a rocky road ahead of him with the possibility of chemo & radio therapy down the track, however the news John was really dreading is that he cannot surf for 6 months.
Movement wishes John the speediest of recoveries, an advanced copy of Movement 20 next week should help with the froth in the meantime.

Cronullas Andrew Lester has been crowned the 2007 Human Pro Tour Champion.
Lester secured the title after winning the last event of the year The Port Mac Pro in fun sized waves at town beach Port Macquarie yesterday. After a devastating performance in the semis Lester was unstoppable and held off determined local Jones Russell in second, Dave Crowley finished third and Ben Gohl fourth.
Lester was stoked in his acceptance speech. “This has been the best thing for my contest surfing. At the end of last season I felt that I needed to refresh my approach to contests so I focused on winning back the Australian Pro Tour Championship.”
“The waves have been great all year on the Aussie Tour and the young guys really pushed me all the way so now I can start next years IBA World Tour with a renewed enthusiasm. Thanks to my sponsors 4Play and Billabong for believing in me and for supporting my career said Lester.”
Lester has now gained automatic entry into the ISA (International Surfing Association) games that will be held in Portugal in early 08’. Lester will represent Australia along with the Aussie Tours runner up Ben Gohl.

Manta bodyboards successfully surfed into the record books on Sunday 30th September at the Australian National Titles held at Town Beach Port Macquarie. The Guinness World Record attempt was to successfully ride the worlds largest bodyboard with the most people on one board.
After 4 failed rides that ended up in hilarious nose dives, the grommets decided to change their approach and redirect the weight to the tail. 10 lucky groms successfully rode the board to shore in classic style and surfed their way into the record books. Manta team rider and chief board pusher Dave Crowley said “the nose dives were a crack up! As soon as the nose goes under the kids at the back get fully catapulted out into the flats. Stoked they actually rode one though, it made for some funny viewing.”

So it's come down to this, a little snapshot taken yesterday at 2:57pm of the tabulated views and ratings on ten kids from Oz.
We were a little confused on who had won the five spots so we called in Simon, a Strategic Planner from Host an award winning agency in advertising. Now you wonder, why the hell ask this guy? Well this guy studied Econometrics at Sydney Uni which among other things makes him a guru in the field of statistics. It also makes him kinda boring, but lets not focus on that.
Now as you can see from the screen grab above (if you click on it to enlarge), there is a clear winner, Sam Bennett, kid nailed a four and a half star rating from 284 ratings, this meant his average ratings were all high (this is why we called in the Econometrics guy) and he had like 3,799 views which is well, heaps.
So we were about to work out the next four guys based on them being the highest rated with the most ratings, as this shows a higher average score, but thought we should give you guys a chance with this new found knowledge. So let us explain how this works like one of those shitty year 12 maths questions.
So if Jonny Long Prong scored 3 and a half stars from 10 ratings (or votes) and was up against Jimmy Aluminium Tinny who had 3 and a half stars and 11 ratings (or votes), this would mean that Jimmy Aluminium Tinny’s 3 and a half stars came from a higher average, so he'd get the spot on the trip.
So basically the highest rated, with the highest amount of ratings, will win the spots.
So go ahead vote and bring your boys home for those last four spots (Sam Bennett is in), we'll tabulate the final ratings on Thursday at 1pm (EST) and post the winners here.
