I'm here at Madrid airport in a 10 hour lay over. My arse is aching and my feet saw on the tacky beige marbe adorning this imperial waiting room. I have just come from Portugal where I watched the worlds best fight it out in less than poor conditions for the US$40,000 prize money and a big start to the world tour rankings. The waves ranged from 2-3ft over the 5 day period with guys like Damian King, Jeff Hubbard, John Showell, Ryan Hardy and a little French kid called Pierre Liouse Costas ripping. I have to say what I saw was pretty amazing: I mean it was not entirelly visually pleasing what went down, but damn there was some busts going on. Tamega's protege, Uri VALADAO took the event out with a massive back flip in the final and walked home with a a sweet $10,000 US cheque. It was a pretty amazing event with at least 3000 people packing the shore for the final and cheering at every flick of the flipper.
My plane just got postponed another 2 hours so I am off to get a kipp. A whole bunch of us are off to a Tomato throwing festival. Good times!

So here we are, it is 6:51pm and the MOVEMENT have just confirmed the new cover. It is pretty nutso to say the least. We can't give out too much at the moment but I am pretty sure it will be our boldest one to date. It comes out on sale on the 15th of August so keep an eye out for it. I have to bail as I have to catch a date but I just thought i would keep you posted with the hoo-ha. Ah ha?

I just got sent this link to the coolest Internet site I have pretty much seen. Basically it is bodyboarding version of myspace.com, but for the fight club that is bodyboarding. It is damn cool! 110 people signed up for their profile in the first hour and 208 more were in the process of doing so. You can make your own page with video clips, photo galleries, journals and the rest.
Anyway check it out www.bodyboarder.com. I like it!

The other morning as I was sketching waves on my desk something startled my attention. It was a scrap piece of paper which read:...Overdue Library book, John Agnew. Apologizing to our ever-ecstatic librarian and listening to her motivational speeches of her childhood stardom wasn't my idea of cool. Now don't get me wrong, I love the lady, but taking a trip to the dusty library shelves isn't my idea of a interesting event. As I graced the library my nano-second attention span was again interrupted by a small group of people crowding around a table. My peanut-sized brain deciphered what I was seeing and my immediate reaction was to scream: Oh My GAWD, chess Cluuuub!. My second reaction to this information was not to taunt their dainty white limbs but of deeper meaning: why do these guys come here once a week, just to play chess?
Now, I'm probably sure you're asking yourself: John, why the fuck are you going on about chess club and library sessions that make you cream..? The answer is so simple: those nerds go to the library once a week to play chess, because that's their dig. They are not just playing chess, chess is their social hit - which I suppose is what a club is. Although they have 4-inch thick lenses attached to their sick-boy faces, these nerds and I have something in common; we are both in clubs for things that we enjoy, so I guess that essentially I am a nerd!
