A couple of years back now, Wolfmother played our local pub. The roof was low, their set was new and frontman Stockdale wailed that place down in a haze of beer and sweat. From there Wolfmother went onto become a huge global act, play to thousands of devil-horned-fisted people, tour the world and like any good band, break up.
Stockdale went home to Brisbane with no band members and some weird vibes. Keen to record some new music, he hit a friend from Brisbane, Dave Atkins (Resin Dogs drummer) to come over and help him lay some tracks he'd been writing. Before long they'd dropped some new tracks and Stockdale asked Dave if he had any buddies who could play some parts on base and organ.
Dave suggests Ian Peres, a man with similar hair volume and the sweet ability to play the mediums required. Before long they realised they would need another guitar man, so a mate who'd always called Stockdale keen to play (Aidan Nemeth), was in the band. It may not have been the JD Fortune, INXS style re-group of a hundred rehearsed men with bad forearm tatts, but thank fuck it wasn't. Stockdale had a cosmic egg on his hands and that thing was ready to explode into a second album.
This clip was recorded near completion of the album at Rocking Horse Studios in Byron Bay.
